How is this different from Zillow or Rentometer?
Zillow's rent index is one of the sources Honestkey combines, alongside comparable listings, Redfin, Census, and HUD. Rentometer works from its own dataset, which Honestkey does not use. The result is a market range and fairness score for your address, plus a check on whether a rent increase is legal in your state and city.
Can I use this to negotiate lower rent?
Absolutely. If your rent is above market rate, we provide a negotiation target with specific data points you can cite. You can also generate a rent negotiation letter with market comparisons and state law citations.
