It is part of Kentucky's Uniform Residential Landlord and Tenant Act, which applies only where a city or county adopted it (KRS 383.500): Louisville-Jefferson County, Lexington-Fayette County, Oldham County, Pulaski County and Campbell County, and the cities of Barbourville, Bromley, Covington, Elsmere, Florence, Georgetown, Ludlow, Shelbyville, Taylor Mill, Walton and West Point. Anywhere else in Kentucky it is not law and the lease decides. List checked September 2026.
